I Won’t Be Forever Young

I’ve had a few things percolating in my head for a while now. I guess this post is my attempt to tie them all together in a coherent way.

I don’t know about you, but in high school I felt a lot of pressure to do something big. I got good grades, and I won some awards, and I began to hear people say, “I wonder what she’ll do.” And I was the one asking myself this loudest of all, because I believed everyone when they told me I was talented and smart. What a Nerd

This post is basically a love letter to the things I love to nerd out about. If you share any of these, let me know!

  • Books. Obviously. Forever. Reading is one of my favorite things in the world, and I’m pretty sure heaven is going to involve a real big library.

What’s Up

Hey, chums!

I made it through the school year! Finals are done and the weather is sunny (at least once in a while) and it’s summertime.

I’ve been busy figuring out what my summer is going to look like – I can probably plan on a whole lot of readin’ and writin’ (we need to handle our financial situation, are we a nation of states? What’s the state of our nation?).

The (oh boy) Vegan Post

be honest, is this you right now?

One of my classes this semester is an Environmental Law course, and for this course we were asked to watch the documentary Earthlings, which is about the ways animals are used by various industries.

Some background: I dabbled in vegetarianism throughout high school, but didn’t really do it right. I ran cross country, and I ended up with some pretty low iron levels, and I always went back to eating meat. Continue reading “The (oh boy) Vegan Post”

Review: The Serpent King (also a talk on small towns, religion, and ambition)

Last night I read a book called The Serpent King, by Jeff Zentner. And it gave me a lot of feelings. I think I loved it, but I’m not totally sure. So I’m going to write it out and figure out what I really think.

(I read it while listening to the Southern Gothic playlist on Spotify. Do it. You won’t be disappointed.)

Top Ten Books on My Spring TBR

An actual Top Ten Tuesday, because The Broke and the Bookish is back, baby! And this one is pretty much perfect, actually, because I think I might get just as much enjoyment out of planning what I’ll be reading as actually reading.

(Just as much? That might be a bold claim. Take that with a grain of salt.) Continue reading “Top Ten Books on My Spring TBR”

Fave Book Couples

Top Ten Tuesday! Hawww yiss!

Actually, the folks who run Top Ten Tuesday are on hiatus, so there is no Top Ten Tuesday for today. BUT – I live by no man’s rules, so I fearlessly chose a prompt from – wait for it – 2010. Brace yourself, because it’s

What’s up in March?

In Wisconsin we’ve been alternating between crazy-warm weather (in the 40s!) and blizzards. But as soon as March hits, it’s officially spring in my book. This may be partly because after 4 months of snow and wind, I’m craving sunlight like Toucan Sam craves Froot Loops.

Why am I even here?

It’s been ages since I posted something. I haven’t made the effort to keep up a regular posting schedule, and I’m not sure how I feel about that.

You guys who post twice a week? Incredible. I love reading your posts, and you’re inspiring. But I don’t know if I’d say you’re #goals, because everything comes at a price. And I’m not sure if I’m willing to pay the price to be a really good blogger. #isitreallygoals
